I have now obtained a Lucas
CR201 GTS/ APU for which I intend to use as
a Shaft drive powerplant for the Go-Kart as detailed
on other pages of this web site. The intention was to
make the CR201 Turbine hot-swapable, so I could have
a choice of either 'Shaft Drive' for quick acceleration
or use the Plessey Solent 'Turbo Jet' for top end speed.
However, upon closer inspection it became apparent
that the Free Running Turbine section had experienced
catastrophic
failure at some point (see
page 2) which has unfortunately now made this
project a no-go.
Maybe the Gas Generator section is still usable?
