The fuel system
was flushed by removing the
injector nozzle and turning the engine over, but on this
first test it seems that not all the inhibitor fluid
was removed, thus the long duration before ignition
took place. Bear in mind that this is probably the
first time in 20 years that the GTP70 has been run.

Ignition starts when the engine reaches about 5000 RPM,
The EGT is still a little hot on starting, but we suspect
after a few starts, it will operate as designed,
nice and cool. |

Still smoking, but starting better. For safety reasons,
in this run the GTP70 was only taken up to 80%, you
can never be to cautious when it comes to the integrity
of an
old
engine. A needle valve has been inserted
in to the pneumatic line which vents to atmosphere,
this fools the FCU in to thinking it's pumping to much
fuel and thus the RPM can be controlled.
